About the Apprenticeship
As a Plant Operator Apprentice, you’ll develop the skills to safely and effectively operate a wide range of construction machinery while gaining real-world site experience.
What you’ll be doing
•Training to operate machinery such as excavators, dump trucks, ride-on rollers and telehandlers
•Supporting experienced operators with day-to-day site activities
•Following strict health, safety and environmental procedures
•Attending training blocks at the National Construction College to enhance your knowledge and technical skills
•Working as part of a team to deliver construction projects safely and efficiently
Entry requirements
•GCSEs (grades 3–9) or equivalent
•A strong interest in construction and plant machinery
•Ability to work well in a team and follow instructions
•Eagerness to learn, develop and take on new challenges
•A basic mechanical aptitude (advantageous but not essential)
