Work
As an apprentice, you'll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You'll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you'll do at work
- Assist with a wide range of property maintenance and refurbishment tasks in customers' homes and communal areas
- Learn and carry out basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, tiling and decorating work under supervision
- Support colleagues to complete repairs safely, efficiently and to a high standard
- Use and maintain tools, equipment and company vehicles responsibly
- Attend college training and complete coursework towards a City & Guilds Level 2 qualification
- Build a portfolio of evidence and take part in assessor visits as part of the apprenticeship programme
- Follow health and safety procedures at all times
- Provide excellent customer service when working in residents' homes and communities
- Work as part of a team while developing practical skills and industry knowledge

An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

Your training plan
Training will take place both in the workplace and at Cornwall College. Apprentices will spend four days a week gaining practical, hands-on experience with Coastline's Property Maintenance team and one day a week attending college to develop their technical knowledge and skills. The apprenticeship combines workplace learning with classroom-based training, leading to a City & Guilds Level 2 qualification in Property Maintenance.

Other requirements
A satisfactory Basic DBS check is required. You must be willing to travel to different work locations, work both indoors and outdoors, attend Cornwall College one day per week, and follow health and safety procedures at all times.
