Work

As an apprentice, you'll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You'll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you'll do at work

Your duties may include:

  • Assisting with the preparation of building sites, materials, tools and equipment.
  • Learning how to lay bricks, blocks and other building materials to construct walls, foundations and other structures.
  • Measuring, setting out and interpreting drawings and specifications.
  • Mixing mortar and ensuring materials are used safely and efficiently.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment in line with health and safety regulations.
  • Working as part of a construction team to complete projects to a high standard.

No two days are the same, and you will gain hands-on experience across a range of residential and commercial construction projects.

An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

Additional Information:

  • The role is based across West Dorset and South Somerset, with travel to various properties and work locations required.
  • Due to the nature of the role and the locations of some properties, it is essential that applicants hold a full UK driving licence and have access to their own transport.
  • Applicants should be practical, reliable, willing to learn, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.

This role involves a variety of indoor and outdoor work and may require manual handling and the use of access equipment under supervision.
