As a Plant Operator Apprentice based in the High Peak and working across the North West, your main responsibility will involve working towards the Level 2 Construction Plant Operative (ST0505) apprenticeship standard. You will gain practical experience on active civil engineering sites, where you will learn to operate various construction plant machinery safely and effectively. Your role will contribute to infrastructure projects such as highways, drainage, utilities, and groundwork.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operating plant equipment in line with site requirements and training level
- Performing pre-start, running, and shutdown checks on plant machinery
- Supporting excavation, lifting, grading, and material movement activities
- Following work instructions, method statements, and risk assessments
- Maintaining plant equipment in a clean and serviceable condition
- Communicating effectively with site teams, including banksmen and supervisors
- Adhering strictly to health, safety, and environmental regulations
- Supporting general site duties as required
- Accurately recording information such as daily checks, logs, and defects
- Actively participating in training, assessments, and coursework
