Summary

Would you like to earn a salary whilst learning on the job and gaining a qualification? We have an exciting opportunity for a Property Maintenance Apprentice.  You will learn all aspects of property maintenance for the commercial units let by the property.

Work

As an apprentice, you'll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You'll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you'll do at work

Your duties will include:

  • Landscaping – cutting grass/hedges
  • Painting and decorating
  • Property repairs – ie guttering repairs, cleaning, electrical repairs, plumbing repairs
  • Building repairs – brick laying
  • End of tenancy repairs/cleaning
  • Start of tenancy requirements

Training

An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

Your training plan

Our apprenticeship is delivered through a block release model. Apprentices attend our training centre, which is located on the Medway City Estate, Rochester ME2 4LT for three consecutive days each month across a three-month period, focusing on developing core knowledge and practical skills. In the fourth month, the trainer visits the workplace to carry out an employer review, ensuring progress and development in the workplace.  

This four-month cycle repeats throughout the two-year programme, providing a structured balance of centre-based learning and on-the-job development. A total of 14 job cards need completing with supporting evidence, such as photo or video evidence, to demonstrate abilities in readiness for the Apprenticeship Assessment.

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English and Maths (grade 4/C and above)

Other requirements

You may also be required to work at 3 other sites in Ash, New Ash Green and Wrotham.
