Summary

To support the delivery of a high-quality property maintenance across the council's housing stock. The Multi-Trade Apprentice will work alongside experienced operatives to develop practical skills across multiple trades (e.g. carpentry, plumbing, basic electrical, painting and general repairs).

Work

As an apprentice, you'll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You'll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you'll do at work

  • Undertake a structured apprenticeship programme and actively participate in personal learning and development.
  • Assist with a wide range of day-to-day property maintenance tasks across multiple trades.
  • Support routine repairs, maintenance and improvement works to council houses.
  • Learn and apply practical skills in areas such as carpentry, plumbing, painting, minor electrical works and general building maintenance.
  • Assist in ensuring buildings are safe, secure and compliant with relevant regulations.
  • Maintain tools, equipment and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
  • Work with other teams, contractors and colleagues to support service delivery.
  • Ensure accurate completion of job records and documentation where required.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to improve services and processes.
  • Demonstrate a customer-focused approach when working in occupied properties or public buildings.

An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4 or Above)
  • Maths (grade 4 or above)
