Summary

A Carpentry Apprentice will work alongside experienced tradespeople in construction, installation, and repair work on residential and commercial projects. Duties include measuring, cutting materials, using hand and power tools safely, and learning practical carpentry skills while working towards industry qualifications.

Work

As an apprentice, you'll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You'll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you'll do at work

We are looking for a motivated and reliable Carpentry Apprentice to join our team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone wanting to begin a career in the construction industry while gaining hands on experience alongside skilled tradespeople. 

The succesful candidate will assist with a range of carpentry and construction tasks on residential projects while working towards a recognised qualification. 

Daily Tasks will include: 

  • Measuring
  • Cutting 
  • Assembling timber and other materials
  • Assisting with the installation of doors, flooring, kitchens, roofing and frameworks
  • Maintaining tools and equipment 
  • Keeping work areas clean and safe

Where you'll work

Training

An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

  • Full on-the-job training will be provided alongside block release/college attendance, working towards a recognised Carpentry and Joinery qualification
  • The apprentice will receive training in the safe use of hand and power tools
  • Measuring and installation techniques, site health and safety, reading drawings, and general construction skills, while working alongside experienced tradespeople and other site trades

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 3 or equivalent)
  • Maths (grade 3 or equivalent)

Desirable qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4)
  • Maths (grade 4)

  • The role will include working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Some manual lifting and carrying of materials will be required 
  • Early starts and travel to different site locations may be required 
  • PPE must be worn at all times on certain sites and will be provided 
  • Candidates should be prepared for physically demanding work and working at heights when required

 

Candidates will be committed to completing a Carpentry Apprenticeship, have the right to work in the UK and the ability to travel to site locations and college as required. 

Succesful applicants will be shorlisted and candidates must be willing to complete a one to three day work trial as part of the recruitment process.
