Kickstart your career with our Plumbing & Domestic Heating Apprenticeship! Learn to install, service & maintain water, heating & drainage systems. Work with boilers, sanitaryware & pipework. Gain hands-on experience and specialise in one of three key areas.
As an apprentice, you'll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You'll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you'll do at work
Assemble pipe sections, tubing and fittings, using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking or soldering, brazing and welding equipment
Once pipes and plumbing fittings are installed, fill pipes or plumbing fixtures with water or air and observe pressure gauges to detect and locate leaks
Study building plans and inspect structures to assess material and equipment needs, to establish the sequence of pipe installations, and to plan installation around obstructions such as electrical wiring
Install sanitary and water piping systems and extend piping to connect fixtures and plumbing to relevant systems
Ability to use equipment such as angle grinders and SDS drills
Where you'll work
Training
An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.
