We are seeking three motivated, enthusiastic individuals to join our Highway Project Delivery team as Apprentice Engineers. You will support a varied programme, including highway maintenance and improvements, integrated transport and active travel, plus work on bridges, drainage and flood risk.

Work
As an apprentice, you'll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You'll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you'll do at work
Provide assistance to officers, engineers and designers
Assist in the preparation and production of detailed technical engineering drawings using computer aided design (AutoCAD) from a combination of survey data, hand produced drafts and GIS digitised mapping database, under supervision
Maintain, update and access manual and computerised databases to produce information/reports as requested
General clerical duties, filing and maintaining records
Assist in the preparation of statutory notices in accordance with the New Roads and Street Works Act
Assist in dealing with third party claims against the council
Ensure compliance with relevant Health and Safety legislation in all aspects of work undertaken so that your own safety, and the safety of working colleagues and occasional visitors, is safeguarded so far as is reasonably practical

An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.
