Summary

You will work with experienced carpenters on construction sites to develop practical woodworking skills.

  • Assist in building and installing wooden structures such as doors, floors, and roofing
  • Measure, cut, and assemble materials accurately
  • Support site work while following health and safety procedures

Work

As an apprentice, you'll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You'll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

  • Work is physically demanding and may involve heavy lifting
  • Outdoor work in all weather conditions is common
  • Must follow strict health and safety rules on construction sites
  • Early starts and travel to different sites may be required
  • Work often involves working at height and in noisy environments

Your training plan

At East Sussex College you will be completing the Level Site Carpentry. This apprenticeship will include Knowledge, Skills, Behaviour, Diploma (if included), Functional Skills (if required)

You will be required to attend the Eastbourne campus one day per week for your lesson, you will also have an assessor who will support you alongside your apprenticeship, setting you assignments, completing observations and progress reviews every 10 – 12 weeks.

At East Sussex College you will study further topics including Health & Safety, and Equality & Diversity and professional development.
