Summary
Kick‑start your career in construction with ODS as a Plasterer & Property Maintenance Apprentice.
This hands‑on role will help you develop plastering and property maintenance skills while achieving a Level 2 qualification and gaining valuable on‑the‑job experience.
Training course: Property maintenance operative (level 2)
Hours 8:00am - 4:00pm, Monday to Thursday and 8:00am - 3:30pm, Friday (7 hours), 30 min break. 37.0 hours a week

Work
As an apprentice, you'll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You'll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you'll do at work
Prepare surfaces for plastering, including bonding, skimming and patch repairs
Apply plaster finishes to walls and ceilings
Repair damaged plasterwork following leaks, wear or damage
Assist with minor property maintenance tasks alongside other trades
Carry out basic repairs prior to decoration or refurbishment works
Undertake site inspections and take measurements
Use hand tools, power tools and equipment safely
Complete job sheets, timesheets and learning logs
Follow ODS health and safety procedures at all times

Training
An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

Duration:
15-month practical training period, plus 3-months for End Point Assessment

Eleven weeks of block releases throughout the year, plus induction / revision days
Regular meetings with your training coordinator to monitor progress and well-being
On-site assessment visits every other month throughout the apprenticeship
Professional discussion based on a portfolio of evidence

The National Minimum Wage (NMW) for Apprentices is £8.00 per hour from April 2025. This applies to 16 - 18-year-old apprentices and those aged 19 and over during the first year of their apprenticeship.
After this, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The wage for apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent in college.
