Summary
A Floor Layer/Finisher is a skilled professional responsible for installing and finishing various types of flooring and subfloor preparation, Screeds, ply-wood, and installing vinyl, carpet, tiles, impervious, safety flooring, LVT in a wide range of settings including working on construction sites.
Training course: Floorlayer - textile and resilient (level 2)
Hours 5 days a week with optional Saturdays. Shifts to be confirmed. 30.0 hours a week

Work
As an apprentice, you'll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You'll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you'll do at work
A Floorlayer works in an efficient and safe manner, and ensure high levels of customer care, particular within the commercial or domestic environment, working alone or within a team
Safe handling and moving of waste materials, flooring installation materials and equipment, manual and with mechanical aids or lifting equipment
Ensure resources are stored in a safe and secure manner
Assessing and testing existing floor surface conditions and evaluating results to ensure a successful installation eg: temperature (including presence of underfloor heating), moisture, level, surface a sub-floor condition
Planning methods appropriate for flooring installation including phasing work and acclimatisation materials before laying; taking into account the type of contract and other works being undertaken
Estimate floorlaying materials and resources required based on the type of contract manufacturers information and site conditions
Learning to install various floorcoverings in a supervised environment, ensuring correct installation methods are used and safe practises of work observed
Learn, understand and adhere to Health & Safety documentation required for floorlaying in a construction or commercial environment

Due to the nature of this role it is essential the apprentice holds a valid UK driving licence and has access to their own vehicle
The apprentice needs to be physically fit as heavy lifting is a requirment of this role
The apprentice will be required to attend Derwentside college for block release every 6-8 weeks for a 2 week block
