Work

As an apprentice, you'll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You'll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you'll do at work

As a Building Services Engineering Higher Apprentice in our Building Services team in Manchester you will:

  • Assist in the development of designs and production of drawings through different phases of building services design, and support with mechanical and electrical calculations
  • You will be trained in the use of software engineering tools such as AutoCad (2D Drawings) and Revit (3D Drawings) to ensure our team have a full set of design skills
  • Where practical, you’ll get the opportunity to visit site, carry out site inspections and see the projects you're working on, coming to life

An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

  • You will attend College to study a Higher Apprenticeship in Building Services Engineering and gain a level 4 qualification, as well as completing your End-Point Assessment
  • You will be enrolled onto a bespoke internal development programme to help you to attain the knowledge, skills and behaviours to successfully achieve your apprenticeship, and support your career
  • You will have the support of your team, line manager, mentor and buddy as well as a dedicated early careers team

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • 5 GCSEs including English, Maths, Science (grade Level 5 or above)
  • 3 A Levels (or equivalent) in a relevant subject (grade Pass)
