Summary

The Building Services Engineering Design Apprenticeship includes a degree qualification in Building Services Engineering BEng (Hons) and a qualification leading towards Incorporated Engineer status. As an apprentice, you'll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You'll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you'll do at work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

  • Actively participate in the company mentorship program, as a mentee
  • Working towards BEng (Hons) Building Services Engineering
    Provide assistance to the team and other Design Staff as follows:
    • HVAC, Fire Protection, Electrical systems, Lighting, and Plumbing drafting as per mark-ups provided by Design Staff
  • Size Building Services Engineering systems to suit regulations, standards and requirements provided by Design Staff
    Perform calculations for mechanical (heating, cooling and ventilation loads) and electrical (lighting levels, circuit sizing etc)
  • Ensure portions of the Introba ’s quality assurance design requirements are being followed 
  • Ensure Introba ’s drafting standards are being followed 
  • Set up Revit models or AutoCAD drawing files 
  • Maintain AutoCAD files and Revit models 
  • Co-ordinate mechanical and electrical services in drafting software (assistance provided by Design Staff as needed) 
  • Detailed check of work prior to returning finished product to Designer

Requirements

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English, Maths and 3 other subjects (grade A - C (grade 4 or above))
  • Mathematics (grade BBC)
  • Science: either Chemistry or Physics (grade BBC)
  • Construction: Design, Surveying And Planning (grade Merit or above)
  • Extended Diploma DDM in an Engineering subject are (grade BTEC Level 3:(UCAS points 128))
  • National Diploma D*D* in an Engineering subject ar (grade BTEC Level3: (UCAS points:112))
  • Building Services Engineering Technician level 3 (grade Pass or Distinction at EPA)
