Summary

Aloft London Excel is a 252-room hotel in East London seeking a reliable Shift Engineer to carry out planned preventative maintenance and repairs across guest rooms, meeting rooms, and public areas, ensuring facilities are safe and well maintained.

Due to the nature of the role, applicants must be 18+.

Monday to Friday, 40 hours (32 hours working and 8 hours college), 30 minute lunch break. Times to be confirmed.

Work

As an apprentice, you'll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You'll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you'll do at work

As a Shift Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining the hotel’s facilities to a high standard, ensuring a safe, efficient, and welcoming environment for guests and staff.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and minor repairs in guest rooms, meeting rooms, and public areas
  • Responding to maintenance and repair requests in a timely and professional manner
  • Ensuring all work is completed in line with health, safety, and security procedures, including correct use of tools, equipment, and PPE
  • Identifying and reporting maintenance issues and safety hazards to management
  • Maintaining accurate records
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across departments and supporting the wider engineering team
  • Providing a friendly, professional service and responding positively to guest needs

This role involves physical work, including lifting and carrying equipment.

Training

An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.
