Summary
We are seeking a motivated Carpentry and Joinery Apprentice to learn and develop practical woodworking skills while supporting our experienced team. This role combines hands-on experience with formal training, offering the opportunity to build a career in the trade.
As an apprentice, you'll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You'll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you'll do at work
This apprenticeship offers the opportunity to develop hands-on carpentry and joinery skills while working alongside experienced tradespeople.
The successful candidate will assist in producing, assembling, and installing wooden components for a variety of projects, learning to use both traditional hand tools and modern machinery. You will gain valuable knowledge of materials, techniques, and safety standards while working towards your qualification.
Day-to-Day Activities:
Assist in measuring, marking, and cutting timber to specifications
Help assemble and fit wooden components such as doors, windows, frames, and furniture
Support the preparation, sanding, and finishing of wood surfaces
Maintain a clean and organised workspace, ensuring tools are stored correctly
Learn to operate woodworking machinery under supervision
Assist with deliveries, unloading materials, and preparing them for use
Follow health and safety procedures at all times
Work alongside skilled carpenters to gain practical, on-the-job experience

The broad purpose of the occupation is working with building materials (most often wood) to create and install building components This typically involves shaping and cutting materials, installing finished materials like partitions, doors, staircases, window frames, mouldings, timber floor coverings and erecting structural components such as floor joists and roofs. All work needs to be carried out safely, using the appropriate tools and to the quality specified
A site carpenter will prepare and install basic building components e.g. doors, straight staircases, wall and floor units and erect structural carpentry and roof structures on a building site or in domestic and commercial premises, as well as repairs to our client's portfolio of stock
