Summary
This Interior Systems Installer (Drylining) Apprenticeship offers a hands-on introduction to the construction industry, where you'll learn how to install, finish, and repair drylining systems used in new-build housing estates. You will work alongside experienced professionals and develop practical skills on-site.
Training course: Interior systems installer (level 2)
Hours Monday- Friday. Hours on site will be roughly 7.30am- 4.30pm (not including travel). Block weeks will be attended at Bedford College. 35.0 hours a week

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
Reading and interpreting technical drawings
Understanding layout plans to install partitions, ceilings, and linings accurately
Measuring and marking out
Measuring wall and ceiling spaces and marking guidelines for installation
Cutting and shaping materials
Using hand and power tools to cut plasterboard, metal stud, and track to size
Installing metal framework (stud and track systems)
Fixing metal stud partitions and ceiling frameworks to create structures within buildings
Fixing plasterboard to walls and ceilings
Attaching boards to frameworks or existing walls using screws, adhesives, or fixings
Taping and jointing plasterboard
Preparing surfaces for decoration by filling joints and sanding smooth
Installing fire, sound, and thermal insulation
Placing insulation materials within partitions or ceilings as per specification
Fitting suspended ceilings
Installing grid systems and ceiling tiles, often in commercial or office settings
Maintaining tools and equipment
Ensuring tools are safe, clean, and ready for use
Complying with health and safety regulations
Wearing correct PPE and working safely on-site at all times

Training
An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.
