9 day fortnight. 33 hrs on the short week, 8hrs 15 mins per day. 41 hrs on the long week, 8hrs 15 mins per day Monday to Thursday and Fridays 8hrs. Please note hours may alter due to College training times.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

As a Civil degree apprentice, you will complete the following:

  • BEng/MEng in Civil Engineering
  • Day release delivery of degree with rest of time on the job learning (flexible to employer requirements)
  • Membership of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE)
  • Enrolment on the ICE Training scheme to attain IEng status
  • Inquiry-led constructive learning and technology-based assessment
  • Nuclear behavioural culture, safety and security
  • Employer focused contextual content

As a Civil Engineering Degree Apprentice, you will learn the basics of construction practice, contract management, structural mechanics, hydraulics, geotechnics, highways, land surveying and CAD before applying that learning to assess existing structures, foundations and soils through lectures and practical projects.

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • 5 x GCSE's including English and Maths (grade 4 or above)
  • 3 x A levels (grade BBC)

Desirable qualifications

T Level in:

  • Construction: Design, Surveying and Planning (grade Merit or above)
  • Engineering (grade Merit or above)

Other requirements

• Applicants must be aged 18 or over, as of 31st August 2026 due to security clearance requirements • You must be a British National to apply for a role with us. Start Date: Tuesday 1st September 2026 Annual leave will not be granted from 1st September until 2nd October 2026 due to mandatory inductions you are required to complete as part of your apprenticeship. Any leave approved after this point will depend on the training provider requirements for your apprenticeship and must be agreed in advance. Qualifications: Grade C/4 or above Plus one of the following: o Three A Levels grade BBC - Must include Mathematics and a Science in either Chemistry or Physics (UCAS points: 112) o T-level (Merit or above) in Construction: Design, Surveying and Planning. (UCAS points: 120) o BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma DDM in an Engineering subject area, with a minimum of merit in Mathematics and Further Mathematics. (UCAS points: 128) o BTEC Level 3 National Diploma DD in an Engineering subject area, with a minimum of merit in Mathematics and Further Mathematics. (UCAS points: 112) o Civil Engineering Technician level 3 apprenticeship DD (UCAS points: 96) alongside grade Pass or Distinction at EPA
