Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
Roles and responsibilities:
As an Apprentice Decorator you will be working in different locations week by week for the purposes of maintenance / re-decoration of private residential homes
Assisting with carrying tools and tidying away at the end of the day
You will work alongside experienced decorators & help prepare areas for decoration,by removing customers belongings such as furniture & sheeting up the floors and any remaining items of furniture.
You will also prepare various surfaces by sanding & filling & keeping the area clean & tidy
Learn new skills such as cutting in & rolling & surface preparation
Working with new surfaces such as bare timber, plaster & render
Working with pre-decorated surfaces
Removal and application of wall coverings
Removal of previous coatings and wall coverings with different methods
Cleaning the site at the end of the day
Traditional and modern methods of making good surfaces
Liasing with customers & colleagues where necessary

Training
An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

Essential qualifications
GCSE or equivalent in:
GCSE's Maths and English (grade A*-C or 4-9*)

We also offer exterior decorating too. We work in a residential setting mostly, and work closely with local builders on larger projects.
