Summary

Working for a small family firm with 50 years of experience in the trade. All employees are trained carpenters with experience in other trades. The role consists of on-site shopfitting work, including carpentry, painting and decorating, suspended ceilings, flooring, etc.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  • Apprentice Shopfitting to learn carpentry and joinery, plus other aspects of the trade, including painting and decorating, flooring, suspended ceiling hanging, etc.
  • Employees are expected to be eager to learn and have a basic knowledge of carpentry and joinery
  • Willing to work as part of a team to complete shop fits on time and to a high standard
  • Workshop machinery, including sheet saws, rip saws, spindle moulders, etc., is all in our workshop, and training will be provided to be able to set up and use them to manufacture the required fixtures and fittings for the projects
  • Must be willing to work out of town, returning at weekends
  • A driver's licence is preferred but not essential

  • The apprentice will attend Freemen's Park Campus for 2 days every 2 weeks
  • The rest of the time, the apprentice will be working on-site/in the workshop with the employer

Requirements

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 2/D)
  • Maths (grade 2/D)

Let the company know about other relevant qualifications and industry experience you have. They can adjust the apprenticeship to reflect what you already know.
