Summary

Newdeck Flooring based in Sunderland is offering an exciting opportunity for an Apprentice Floorlayer to join their team. As an apprentice, you’ll learn to install and finish a variety of flooring types across different settings. This is a great opportunity to start your career in a skilled trade with hands-on training and real-world experience.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

A Floorlayer works in an efficient and safe manner, and ensure high levels of customer care, particular within the domestic environment,
working alone or within a team.

Your daily duties will include;

  • Safe handling and moving of waste materials, flooring installation materials and equipment manual and with mechanical aids or lifting equipment
  • Why and how resources should be stored in a safe and secure manner e.g. different materials, too and equipment
  • Assessing and testing existing floor surface conditions and evaluating results to ensure a successful installation e.g. temperature (including presence of underfloor heating), moisture, level, surface a sub-floor condition
  • Planning methods appropriate for flooring installation including phasing work and acclimatisation materials before laying; taking into account the type of contract and other works being undertaken
  • Methods to estimate floorlaying materials and resources required based on the type of contract manufacturers information and site conditions
