Summary
You will be required support engineers to install, maintain and repair pipes and fixtures associated with district heating systems in residential and commercial properties. You will carry out testing and inspection on heating systems, completing works in both plant rooms & flats, carrying out planned maintenance.
Training course: Building services engineering installer (level 2)
Hours Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 5.00pm. 40.0 hours a week

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
Assist in the installation of pipework for district heating systems in residential and commercial properties
Support in fitting fixtures such as radiators, cylinders, valves, pumps, and controls
Assist engineers with installing plant room equipment including boilers, heat exchangers, and buffer vessels
Learn and apply pressure testing techniques to newly installed pipework and components
Support planned maintenance tasks including checking system performance and carrying out preventative work
Carry out basic inspections on heating systems in plant rooms and residential flats
Assist with fault finding and diagnosis of heating system issues
Support engineers in performing tests on system controls and thermostats
Help record test results and identify non-compliant or faulty components
Complete job sheets and maintenance logs accurately and on time
Set up and clean work areas before and after work is carried out
Ensure tools and equipment are ready for use and safely stored afterwards
Transport and organise materials as required on-site
Follow safe systems of work, risk assessments, and method statements
Follow company health and safety policies and procedures at all times
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment
Assist in ensuring compliance with building regulations and industry standards
Attend training sessions, college classes, and internal development programs
Learn to read and interpret technical drawings and system schematics
Seek guidance and feedback from qualified engineers to improve practical skills
Stay up-to-date with industry standards and best practices for wet heating systems
Drive to and from work locations as required
