Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

An exciting opportunity has arisen within a family run Electrical and Fire Systems company based in Crook, County Durham. Due to continued expansion within the business, Andrew Carling Electrics Ltd (ACE) are seeking an ambitious and hard working Fire Systems Apprentice.

The successful candidate will undertake a wide range of duties and work towards a three year apprenticeship in Fire, Emergency & Security Systems.

The main purpose of the role will be to assist the Fire Systems Engineer in Installing, maintaining and repairing a variety of fire alarm systems.

Main duties to include:

  • Installing fire detection and alarm systems, including cabling, and mounting of components
  • Testing and commissioning new systems, ensuring they function correctly and meet the required standards
  • Assisting in the preventative and corrective maintenance of fire alarm systems, including diagnosing and repairing faults
  • Adhering to safety regulations, codes of practice, and risk assessments
  • Assisting in the preparation of reports and maintain records of work completed
  • To communicate effectively with customers and ensure that they are satisfied with the systems and know how to use them

  • You will complete the Fire, Emergency and Security Systems Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard and will attend a combination of weekly and fortnightly day release sessions at our Team Valley training centre

Requirements

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4/C or above)
  • Maths (grade 4/C or above)

Other requirements
