An excellent introduction to a career as a CAD Technician. You will support Civil and Structural engineers by producing high quality CAD drawings of a range of civil and structural engineering designs.
Training course: Civil engineering senior technician (level 4)
Hours 8.30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday with a 3/4 hour lunch break each day. No evening or weekend work. 38.75 hours a week

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
Use a variety of CAD software confidently with a clear understanding of the best way to approach each job.
Produce detailed engineering layouts and details to enable house builders to build houses on site.
Support engineers in getting technical approval with statutory bodies to meet legal requirements.
Complete simple engineering designs including levels and details, carriageway design, external works drawings, conveyance plans, standard details and other engineering tasks as directed.
Ensure internal processes are followed (e.g. updating drawing issue registers) so that information about jobs can be easily accessed.
Provide administrative support to the team e.g. printing and folding drawings and document control procedures, enabling engineers to focus on design work.

An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.
