Summary

Thrive Homes is a housing association, owning and managing over 6,000 homes in Herts, Beds, Oxon and Bucks, delivering much-needed homes for social and affordable rent, leasehold, shared ownership and private market rent. We are looking for an apprentice to join our Property Services Team where you will learn how to complete repairs to homes.

Hours
Training Provider release (1 week per month in Derby). In a month: Week one Derby Mon-Fri. Week two shadowing with Thrive 8:00am to 4pm. Week three shadowing with Thrive 8:00am to 4pm. Week four shadowing with Thrive 8:00am to 4pm.
37.5 hours a week

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  • Under supervision, you will complete repairs in the homes occupied by our tenants
  • With support, you will identify the right and cost-effective solution to problems that you attend and complete those repairs to a good standard and with the minimum inconvenience to the customer
  • You will work in accordance with our policies and procedures relating to safe working in our customers’ homes and public areas
  • Under supervision, you will be responsible for completing day-to-day repairs to a workman like standard
  • With support, you will be able to fault find and accurately diagnose the repairs needed, decide the most efficient and effective value for money and arrange materials where needed
  • You will follow the processes Thrive requires when undertaking all work

Training

An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

  • Working towards a Level 2 Property Maintenance Apprenticeship
  • Required to attend our Derby provider on a monthly basis for one week at a time. This will include accomodation, travel and subsidised meals

Essential qualifications

GCSE or equivalent in:

  • English & Maths (grade Lev 2 or above)

Let the company know about other relevant qualifications and industry experience you have. They can adjust the apprenticeship to reflect what you already know.

Other requirements

Minimum age of 19. Preferable to hold a full UK driving licence to be fully mobile to our properties within Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire & Oxon. You will be required to attend different properties within our portfolio. This means you will be buddied with an existing operative and travel to different areas with this individual.
