Summary

This is a fantastic opportunity for a hardworking individual to join the team as an apprentice Groundworker. Groundworkers are the first trade on a construction site. Their work includes setting out and preparing the sub-surfaces ready for the structural work to begin, installing drainage systems, concreting, constructing roads and pathways.

Monday-Friday 7.30am – 4.00pm.
36.0 hours a week

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  • Will work alongside one of our experienced Groundworkers, learning all aspects of Groundworks/Construction that we deliver to our clients in various locations across the Northwest
  • Heavy lifting 
  • Paving, digging
  • Will be required to follow health and safety regulations

Training

An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

Your training plan

Training will be delivered in the workplace and will also involve attending college one day a week at Hopwood Hall College (Middleton Campus). You will be assigned a work-based tutor from Hopwood Hall College who will support you through your apprenticeship.

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4)
  • Math (grade 4)

Other requirements

Groundworks is a physically demanding job that is labour-intensive and involves working outside. A full driving license would be an advantage but not essential.
