Apprentice Road Surfacing Operative

Summary

The successful candidate will be given a full training programme and introduction into all the roles required within a road surfacing gang. Initially, learning the basics of working within a gang using hand tools and then progressing on to learning various tasks associated with working safely and to the highest quality standards.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  • Initial Health, Safety and Environment training
  • Introduction into the various roles within a surfacing gang
  • Introduction into various methods of road surfacing
  • Targeted basic training on specific roles within a gang
  • Further training on a chosen role within the gang
  • Health, Safety and Environment training
  • Basic onsite experience of operating surfacing machinery

An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.
