We are recruiting an apprentice painter and decorator role to work alongside a qualified and experienced painter and decorator on a range of different sites. Initially on one of our long-running contracts for a high profile client. You will mainly work in the Tadcaster area.
Hours Monday to Friday 7.30am to 4pm. 40.0 hours a week

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
Working alongside a trained and experienced painter and decorator, you will be onsite assisting with and learning how to provide a full range of painting and decorating services. Tasks to include:
Learning how to and assisting with preparing a workspace in such a way that work can be completed safely, quickly and to a high standard. Preparation tasks to include:
Sanding
Filling
Priming
Undercoating
Assisting with the completion of a full range of painting and decorating tasks on the interior and exterior of residential and commercial buildings in line with client requirements. Examples include:
Painting interior walls and woodwork
Painting exterior woodwork and masonry
Wallpaper and lining paper hanging
Maintaining site cleanliness and helping to ensure work runs smoothly

Training
An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

You will attend York College on a block release basis: 11 weeks at college over the academic year. The rest of your training will take place in the workplace.

Other requirements
The role will require the apprentice to work wherever is necessary to fulfil our contract with our client. Transport to the various sites will be in a company vehicle, but you must be able to get to a site in or around Tadcaster for a suitable time to be picked up to ensure a prompt start. Our sites may not be reachable by public transport.
About this company
We have been trading since 2021 and now have 17 full time staff complemented with sub contractors. We carry out a wide range of construction work, including new build, residential, barn conversions, commercial maintenance/building contracts.
